Joyce and Geoffrey, it's great to hear about the city's efforts to improve quality of life for our citizens. I was hoping we would move away from the smart city concept into something more fitting. I studied smart cities over several years. My research was later published by publishing giant Palgrave MacMillan as a textbook in the subject matter. Smart City is what we, who study the future, call a "used future." San Antonio has so much more potential beyond the smart city. When I first started my research, I was a supporter and even advocate. But after studying everything that was written about smart cities, and diving over peer-reviewed literature, my point of view on the subject changed. You can read all of the details in book titled "Leadership and Strategic Foresight in Smart Cities: A Futures Thinking Model." San Antonio is my city, so I am (and have) talked with leaders about all of these concepts....and hope we become successful...but more so as a "citizen-centric" effort. I look forward to study the details in the roadmap. Can you point me into the right direction? Thank you.
